Inspiration, design and creation of bespoke, desirable and playful items

About Bespoke Impact

Founder of Bespoke Impact, Ian Stevens

When I was a small boy I was inspired by experiences as diverse as watching the Moon landings and the ground breaking British TV programmes of Postgate & Firmin and Gerry Anderson, notably Thunderbirds. Seeing craftsmanship up close at fine porcelain and glass works and getting close to nature on walks in the British countryside with my parents were probably responsible for my interest in crafts and the environment.

Design fascinated me and I started my career as trainee production assistant in a design consultancy where I invited myself to every brain storming session. One of my first projects there, which they incredibly gave me total responsibility for, was to create a large slot car racing layout of the Monza race track in Italy for an F1 team. This travelled to every Grand Prix for the drivers to play with.

Self-employment soon followed at the age of 24 and I found myself designing for multinationals, charities and government departments from New York to the Netherlands and many places in between.

I found myself connecting talented crafts people with large organisations and working on high profile projects. I realised that I could similarly connect crafts people with private clients and started Bespoke Impact. Tamara Beckwith had faith in this fledgling enterprise from day one and kindly made introductions which sent me to LA to create a beautiful children's playhouse at the most expensive mansion in the USA. That was a great opportunity as a first project for Bespoke Impact and I made great contacts in the USA and more clients soon followed. Thank you Tamara!

Now I'm having far too much fun to call this work and I am loving working with very talented crafts people and my clients to make their wishes come true.

On the completion of our largest and most complex design and build project yet, our client told me that we had made his dream come true.
